Africa Mental Health Foundation
Support
AMHF supports research students both local and international in providing internship, data collection, entry and analysis, duplication of materials and provision of research facilities and tools. It also encourages students to publish their work.
It also gives support to several charitable organizations including the survivors of the August 1998 bomb blast at the American Embassy.
Achievements
- Supported and coordinated the writing of the African textbook of Clinical Psychiatry and Mental Health.
- Awards the Best National Mental Health Worker of the year for Mathare Mental hospital in conjunction with the Ministry of Health.
- Coordinated the writing of a Trauma Counseling manual for health workers.
- Currently coordinating the writing of :
- life skills materials for Primary and Secondary Schools in Kenya.
- Contemporary psychiatry in Africa.
- Psychiatry and Mental health for Lay people.
- Many pages in Peer reviewed paper in academic Journals all over the world.
- Developed evidence based response to the Trauma caused by political violence in Kibera, Nairobi.
